The Rosie Foundation

The Rosie Foundation is the impact initiative of Books Line.

It is built on a simple principle: that the value of a book should not end at its first destination. Beyond every order, there is an opportunity to extend knowledge, access, and learning to communities where it is needed most.

Purpose

The foundation exists to support access to education through the redistribution of books and the allocation of funding to communities with limited access to learning resources. This approach is focused, practical, and measurable — ensuring that both materials and financial contributions are directed where they can create meaningful, lasting value.

How It Works

The Rosie Foundation operates through two core commitments:

1. Annual Contribution

Books Line allocates 10% of annual net profit to the foundation. These funds are directed towards selected organisations and initiatives aligned with the foundation’s purpose, including partners such as Giving Back to Africa, supporting education-focused projects in underserved communities.

2. Redistribution of Books

Where appropriate, unused or excess books may be redistributed to educational communities.

This includes:

  • Excess copies from print runs.
  • Unused inventory following project completion.
  • Stock no longer required 3 months after order dispatch.

All redistribution is carried out only with the clear consent of the publisher or client.

Publisher Participation

Publishers and clients are given the option to participate in this initiative.

At the point of order, clients may opt in to allow eligible surplus copies of their books to be donated through The Rosie Foundation. This consent is also reflected within our terms and outlined transparently here.

Participation is entirely optional and handled with clarity and respect.

Approach

The foundation is intentionally focused and measured.

Rather than broad commitments, it operates through:

  • Clearly defined contributions.
  • Selected partner organisations.
  • Trackable distribution of books and funds.

Each initiative is approached with the same principles that guide Books Line — responsibility, transparency, and long-term thinking.

Distribution Approach

Books are allocated based on relevance and need, working with trusted partner organisations to ensure meaningful use:

  • Ihezie Foundation — supporting schools and community-level education
  • Book Aid International — supporting universities, libraries, and alternative learning environments such as prisons

This structured approach ensures that materials are directed where they can be used effectively and responsibly.

Looking Ahead

The Rosie Foundation will develop alongside Books Line, expanding its reach as partnerships and opportunities evolve.

Over time, this page will reflect its impact — including the number of books redistributed and the funds allocated to supported communities.

Its aim remains consistent: to ensure that books — and the value they carry — can reach beyond their original purpose, contributing to education, access, and opportunity where it matters most.

Why “Rosie”

The foundation is named in memory of Rosie.

Her loss was a reminder of how much we still have to learn — and how knowledge, research, and access to information shape outcomes in the world around us.

The Rosie Foundation reflects a simple belief: that greater access to education and knowledge can contribute to progress, understanding, and a better future.
